Most saree businesses you will find online are shops. They buy woven cloth from someone, mark it up, and sell it to you. There is nothing wrong with that — it is how most retail works.
We are not that. Mani Silks has been a manufacturer since 1978. Handloom and powerloom, both under our own roof. The warp goes on the beam here. The zari is bought by us and checked by us. When a saree leaves, it has not passed through a single pair of hands that were not ours.

We run both handlooms and powerlooms, and we are open about which is which. Some houses are not, because “handloom” sells better. That is a disservice to both.
A handloom produces roughly a metre a day. It gives you the slightly irregular selvedge, the hand-interlocked korvai border, the small variations in motif spacing that tell you a person made this. It costs more because it takes longer, and it should.
A powerloom produces an even, consistent cloth at a fraction of the time. For a soft silk you will wear to twenty functions, that consistency is genuinely what you want — and it means we can sell it at four thousand rupees instead of forty.
Every product page on this site states which loom the piece came off. We would rather you chose knowingly.
For most of our 48 years we sold wholesale — to shops across South India who put their own name on the bill. We still do, and that trade is the backbone of the business.
Selling direct is newer. It exists because customers kept finding us through the shops and asking whether they could buy from the source. The answer is now yes, at a price that reflects the fact that nobody in between needs paying.
If you run a shop yourself, nothing has changed — trade accounts work exactly as they always have.
Mani Silks is led by the people who built it — at the loom, in the market, and now online.
Handloom or powerloom, stated on every product page. No ambiguity, no marketing language doing the work.
Where a piece uses half-fine zari we say so and give the silver content. Where it uses imitation, we say that instead.
Ask on WhatsApp and we send video of the exact saree, on the shelf, before it is packed.
A strike-through price is a price we genuinely sold at. There is no permanent sale here.
The shop is open Mon–Sun, 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM. If you are buying bridal, tell us you are coming and we will have the pieces out and ready rather than folded.
